Following the changes made to SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) CHAPTER VI regulation enforcing mandatory verification of the gross mass of all containers. Effective July 1st July 2016 the new regulation shall require the provision of the verified gross mass (VGM) of all containers:
- Either by weighing the packed container using calibrated and certified equipment and or
- Weighing all packages and cargo items using a certified method approved by competent authority of the state in which the packing of the container was completed.
